When students hear or speak a language other than English, they are identified as English Learners with the WIDA English language Screener. Depending on the student’s English proficiency level, previous U.S. schooling and time in the U.S., you will be notified if your child qualifies for English language services. At each proficiency and grade level, the EL services are tailored to students' needs. English Learners language proficiency will be assessed each year with the WIDA ACCESS for ELLs® test until they acquire a proficient level of academic English.
