• How will my child's teachers communicate with me?

Each teacher will inform you of how they will communicate with you throughout the year.  Parents attend the school’s Open House or Curriculum Night at the beginning of the year.  It is a time to meet teachers and listen to presentations on curriculum. Please email the teacher if you have a question.

    • Parent-Teacher Conferences
      • Formal parent-teacher conferences are scheduled in the fall and spring. You will make an appointment to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss the child’s work and progress. Click here for some helpful advice about what to discuss at your child’s conference. In the older grades, children often lead the conference by presenting their work. Please ask the EL teacher if you need an interpreter.
    • Report Cards
      • You will receive information about your child’s progress in written form at the end of each semester. Parents must sign and return the first semester report. You will keep the final copy of the report.
    • Homework Folder
      • Check your child's folder every day. You will find paper notices about events happening in school. You can find homework assignments for third- through fifth-graders written in the homework planner. Please help your child finish homework each night and return it to school the next day. Ask the teacher if you have questions about what is required. Parents are encouraged to write a note and send it to the teacher in the folder. Every child in Clayton is expected to read for 20 minutes each night.
    • Email
      • Email is the best way to contact your child's teacher. If you don't know the email address for your child's teacher, click here to search the District's staff directory.
