• MUSIC

Elementary music is a general music course taught in a sequential manner in which concepts are introduced, developed, assessed, and reinforced through the students' elementary years.  Students gain music knowledge, music skills, and growth in character development during music class.  All grade levels experience singing, playing classroom instruments, listening, movement, dance, drama, and the enjoyment of music.  The Meramec music curriculum provides learning objectives for elementary students' musical experiences and opportunities for the students to improvise and enjoy individual creativity.

Music lessons are often designed to reinforce other areas of study across the curriculum such as science, math, reading, literature, social studies, the visual arts, physical education, and character development.  Grade level performances showcase students' learning and meaningfully connect to curricular units of study.

Meramec Choir is a non-auditioned performing group comprised of fourth and fifth grade students who meet before and after school once a week.
