• INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

The instrumental music program is designed for any interested student in grades 4 and 5.  Each student receives two thirty-minute group lessons per week.  The Suzuki string method, a system of rote learning, is used in the fourth grade.  Students study the Suzuki literature while concentrating on playing skills.

Fifth grade students continue to refine playing skills through the Suzuki literature, note reading, and elementary orchestral repertoire.  More advanced elementary music is studied with continued emphasis on skill development and note reading.

Students in grades four and five are required to provide their own instruments and are responsible for practicing outside of school to master the pieces taught, modeled, and practiced during classroom instructional times.
