Classified staff throughout the School District of Clayton have representation on the Classified Staff Professional Development Committee. Committee members bring the perspective of classified staff to committee work and consult with PD staff on professional development options. Each year, during the district PD days, workshops are scheduled to meet the needs of classified staff. Professional development topics have included; Social-Emotional Learning, Culturally Responsive Practices, CPR and first aid, self-defense, Know Your Strengths, and customer service. Training topics have included Google, Schoolwires, various digital programs, Standards of Professional Practice, and human resources and business office procedures. Additionally, there is funding in the professional development budget for external events for support staff, such as the Office Professionals Conference and a number of support staff focused workshops, offered annually at EdPlus.
