        Welcome to Team 6 Central!

     Student FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

WHAT DO I DO WHEN I GET TO WYDOWN ON MY FIRST DAY?

*If you arrive early, you will be required to find a seat in the cafeteria until the 6th grade hallway doors open at 8:15.

    1. Come to the 6 Central team area as soon as the doors open at 8:15. We will help you find your first class.                 .

    2. The schedule is a bit confusing. During your first period class, we will help you make sense of it all...

    3. Tardies (being marked late to your individual classes) will not count during the first week. We know that it takes a little bit of time to get used to the building. For your first few days, we will help you find your classes!

    4. For the first week or two, you will have assigned seats at lunch to meet new people in the cafeteria, so don’t worry about where you’ll sit at lunch :)

    5. The lunch line can be long in the first couple of days because 6th graders are getting used to the new lunch system. We suggest bringing your lunch on the first day or two.

    6. Don’t worry about sorting your supplies--some teachers will want you to do something specific. Bring your supplies in your backpack on the first day and we will help you label and sort them out.

    WHAT TO WEAR?

Temperatures in the building are up and down, so your best bet will be to dress in layers.

PE: Sixth Graders do NOT change for PE, so skirts and dresses should be worn with shorts or leggings.  Tennis shoes are required for PE each class.  Heads up--students who have to change shoes for PE are often stressed about getting to classes on time.

HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT MY HOMEWORK IS?

Most daily homework will be posted on Google Classroom. However, large or long-term assignments and some daily work will not. Therefore, you MUST have a planner you bring and use daily to write assignments and deadlines. We have planners for parents and caregivers to purchase for you for $5. The Wydown planners might be delayed in shipping.  If they don’t arrive by the Walk-Through or the first day of school, we will provide you with a temporary planner, so you can keep track of your assignments in the meantime.

IS THERE A SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENT?

All incoming sixth graders were asked to choose a book to read over the summer and complete a short assignment that was accessed online. If you did not do this assignment, no worries- you still have time!  We will accept the assignment late:)  Click on this link to access the Google Form and instructions.

    CAN I BRING MY ELECTRONICS?

In addition to your Chromebooks, you are allowed to bring cell phones -- with some restrictions.  You are responsible for following school policies, and for protecting the safety of your items.

    • Cell phones are to be OFF and in backpacks during the school day. Your parents can call the school office if they need to reach you with an emergency message.

    • e-Readers (Kindles, Nooks, etc.) are welcome for Independent Reading time.  All materials on the device should be school and age appropriate.

We will be able to answer any other questions on your first day!

We are so excited about working with you this year!!!
