Welcome to Kindergarten! My name is Mrs. McCallister. I am thrilled about our year together-we will have lots of fun and learn so much! I want to make sure that each Kindergartner learns to be the best they can be, while learning about the world around them. I wish for them to see the world with a big heart and a curious mind.

I grew up in St. Louis and ventured to New Mexico for college. I have spent my years teaching in kindergarten, first and second grades.  I earned a Master’s Degree in Reading from Webster University in 2012. I completed my K-12 Special Reading Certification and am pursuing a second Master's and certificate in Gifted Education. I enjoy improving my teaching practice by learning about individualization, Social-Emotional Learning, phonemic awareness, and the current impact of research on student achievement and well-being. 

My partner and I have two children, Emily and Amelia. Emily loves reading, decorating, and creating. Amelia is fearless, loves to laugh, and enjoys playing games. We have two dogs, a cat, and live multigenerationally with our beloved grandma Jane. I enjoy walking with my dogs, drinking copious amounts of coffee, playing logic games with my family, and sneaking in a nap on the weekends.

Kindergarten is truly a magical year. I value partnering with our families and want you each to be actively involved in the education of your child in whatever way works best for you. It's going to be a great year!
