• So, you finished your quiz, your homework is done, and you've already taken a look at the next set of vocabulary.  What do you do now?  Play math games?  ¡Ni modo! Why not pursue a topic of your interest in the Spanish-speaking world?  Latin America and Spain contain a treasure trove of cultural, historical, political, natural, scientific, artistic, and other information that are just waiting to be explored.
     
     Here are a few ideas for an enrichment project.  The list is only a sampling, if nothing appeals to you, think of an idea that does!  If you begin a topic and find it less interesting than you had hoped, pick another one!  Do what interests you!
     
    Submit this form once you've picked a topic.  You may print it and turn it in, or simply email it to Sr. Johnson.
    • Search for or create sets of extension vocabulary on Quizlet.com.  Share sets you create with our class!
    • Go to zambombazo.com and check out the wealth of authentic language activities.  Super fun!
    • Pick a grammar topic that interests you and learn about it.  Google it, study it on StudySpanish.com, whatever!  Put together what you've learned as a powerpoint, song, graphic organizer...
    • Complete a "clozeline" worksheet while listening to amazing music en español
    • Google Earth ideas: create a tour itinerary of a Spanish-speaking country.  Propose your itinerary for a future class trip.  Include information such as...destinations, what to do/see in each place, cultural learning opportunities, volunteering opportunities, famous people from the region, etc.  Use TourBuilder to create a place to place guided tour complete with photos and links to relevant websites.
    • Make comics that demonstrate your humor in Spanish on makebeliefscomix.com or bitstrips.com
    • Research famous athletes, politicians, artists, musicians, activists, and others from the Spanish-speaking world.  Present your findings.
    • Learn a traditional art form: crafts, dance, music, any form of expression.  Teach yourself!  Then teach us!
    • Write and perform skits in Spanish.  Film and edit.  Perform from memory.  Add props and create something amazing.  It's up to you!
    • Try some Mayan math.  Can you perform mathematical equations using Mayan notation and a base twenty system?  Prove it!
    • Learn about the Mayan calendar.  What is your Mayan astrological sign?  What is today's date according to the Mayan long count? What are the Haab and Tzolk'in calendars?
    • Research a historical topic that interests you.  Like ancient cultures?  Politics?  The arts?  The influence of colonialism on life in the Americas?  What can you find out?  What do you find amazing/shocking/beautiful/horrible/fascinating?  
    • Make food!  Research its history and significance, then get cookin!
