Welcome, my name is Karen Leong and I am your 6th and 8th-grade math teacher.  Allow me to introduce myself.  I was born and raised in Hong Kong and I came to the United States at the age of 16.  I attended Parkway West High School.  I earned my middle school education degree at UMSL (the University of Missouri-St. Louis).  I also have a masters' degree in educational administration from Arizona State University.  I completed my doctorate in educational administration at UMSL in 2013.  I am proud and happy to say that I have been teaching since 1990. What can I say, I am old and I just love middle school kids!

At home, I am known as a mom of three sons, Evan, Elliott and Ethan who are all working adults now.  My oldest son,Evan, along with his wife, Jess, have given me my first 2 grandchildren named Ezekiel (Zeke) and Miriam (Miri) and number 3 will arrive over winter break.  My second son, Elliott, married his sweetheart this July and we are thrilled to have Mary as a new member in our family.   I have been married to Mr. Leong for 35 years.  I enjoy cooking, music, learning all kinds of new skills and mostly hanging with friends and family.  I am fluent in both Chinese and English and I hope to learn Spanish someday.

My goal is to help you learn and enjoy mathematics.  In addition, it is very important to me to also help you learn how to work smarter and harder, make good decisions, develop good work habits and be responsible for your own education.  I am happy to help and support you during and outside of class time.  Be sure you let me know how I can be helpful.  I highly value a solid working relationship with both parents and students.
