The primary purpose of the elementary report card is to be a tool to communicate student progress to caregivers, students and other school staff. The report card consists of standards that reflect the priority learning foci for each content area. The following performance indicators are used on the report card:
- M (Meets Expectations)
- “M” indicates the student consistently and independently demonstrates success with this indicator at this time of the year.
- The student consistently and independently demonstrates an understanding of the content and applies the skills required of the indicator.
- P (Making Progress)
- “P” indicates the student Is progressing towards the indicator at this time of the school year.
- The student demonstrates some understanding of the content and applies some of the skills required in the indicator in guided situations or with some support.
- The student may need more instruction, support, or monitoring to meet the indicator.
- N (Not Yet)
- “N” indicates the student is not yet meeting the indicator at this time in the school year.
- The student demonstrates little (to no) understanding of the content and is unable to apply the skills required of the indicator.
- The student requires more instruction, support, and monitoring to meet the indicator.
- Blank - an indicator not addressed this semester
- N/A - Not enough information to assess the student at this point. Generally, should only be used during the first semester.
In order to help caregivers and students gain a deeper understanding of the standards used on the report card, departments have created the following proficiency scales.
