Welcome to the Greyhound Alternative Program (GAP)
I am looking forward to supporting you this year. Our goal is to work with you to create an educational plan that will build on your strengths, unique learning style and needs, and help you develop skills to meet your goals, for high school and beyond.
Greyhound Alternative Program (GAP) Expectations
Show up
We meet in the GAP room 8:30 - 11:30 on A/B days. C days are a flex day to work from home if you are caught up on your work. If you are on a blended schedule, or need extra help, you may access the GAP room on C days.
Our schedule is shorter than a typical school day to allow students to work, take care of family, exercise, relax, or pursue passions that support their overall well-being
During these hours, you’ll be working and getting your needs met in our space. GAP students should enter and leave through the Greyhound entrance and must not wander the building, or leave without permission. If you are not taking any other classes in the building, you are done for the day at 11:30, and will be expected to leave unless you have made arrangements for additional help.
You can access your classes from home and on weekends.
Make Progress
Access your Edmentum classes daily and ensure you are on track.
Self Advocate
Ask for help and tell us what you need, academically and emotionally, so that we can support you effectively.
Accept Help
The classes can be challenging. We have the resources to support you, but you must be available and open to having it.
Be coachable. GAP staff are mentors who will support your social as well as your academic growth.
Be Kind
There will be a wide variety of students with different profiles and needs in our program. It is essential that our space is safe and an environment where all students can focus and work.
Respect our space and our resources.
Greet people when they come into our space. Have fun!
Manage your Devices
We follow workplace expectations in regard to device use.
Put them away when working with a teacher or during group conversations - Be present.
Use them responsibly for your school work - calculators, research etc.
Quiet music to support your productivity or mindset is acceptable.
Use them during breaks.
