Salvete ad Latinam IV. In Latin IV, students undertake the reading, analysis and critical interpretation of works of Latin
literature. In the first semester, the students study the late Roman republic through the poetry of Catullus and Horace, and the brilliant legal rhetoric of Cicero. The focus of the second semester is Ovid's Metamorphoses, a delightful epic poem full of Classical mythology. With selections drawn from a variety of authors and works throughout the year, the students deepen their understanding of Latin vocabulary, syntax, and style while using these skills to further their knowledge of Roman culture and history.Grading Scale for CHS
