
Award Winning Disability History & Awareness Month Video Series!!
In June 2022, the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) announced its annual award winners for communications excellence. The School District of Clayton received an Award of Excellence in the video/ video series category for their Disability History & Awareness video series produced in October of 2021. The four-part series highlighted disability history, employment integration, transition, and spotlighted a current and former Clayton High School student.
In May 2011, the Missouri State legislature passed House Bill 555. This bill designated October as “Disability History and Awareness Month." The bill also encourages schools to provide information about disability history and promote awareness of the contributions of individuals with disabilities.
In October of 2021, four videos were published discussing the disability rights movement as outlined below:
- Oct. 13: History of Disability Rights Movement in the U.S.
- Oct. 19: Employment Progress and Disability Pride
- Oct. 22: Clayton High School Students and Alumni Spotlight
- Oct. 28: Post-Graduate Transition and a Bright Future
