This course is designed to provide students with a beginning knowledge of the Spanish language and the culture of various Spanish-speaking people of the world. Students will learn to listen to and comprehend spoken Spanish, to pronounce Spanish correctly, and to express themselves in Spanish on a variety of subjects. Reading and writing will be included. A sizable vocabulary of a practical and modern nature will be acquired by the end of the first year. The course includes homework, class participation, participation in language laboratory activities, oral and written quizzes, unit tests, and various cultural projects.
