Hello, my name is Tricia Holm and I am one of the band directors at Wydown Middle School. My primary instrument is Tuba. The 2022-2023 school year begins my 19th year of teaching. This is my second year at Wydown and I am lead teacher of the 7th and 8th grade band. I also teach beginning flute class and the 7th grade beginning band class. At zero hour, I direct the WMS Jazz Band and co-conduct the WMS Wind Ensemble.
My educational background consists of attending Southwest Missouri State University, now known as Missouri State University (MSU). I graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education in 2004. While teaching, I attended Missouri Baptist University and graduated with a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction in 2009.
During my time at MSU, I marched with DCI Drum Corps, Phantom Regiment in 2002. I participated in the Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, Tuba Euphonium Ensemble, SMS Brass Student Brass Quintet, Lady Bear Pep Band, Jazz Band, and the SMSU Orchestra.
My teaching experience, began in 2005, in Springfield, Missouri at Study Middle School, teaching grades 6th-8th Orchestra and Band. Three years later, I accepted a position at Washington High School in Washington, MO in the fall of 2008 as Middle School Band Director/Assistant High School Band Director and Brass Specialist. I was Lead Teacher at the Middle School and Lead Middle School Pep Band and Jazz Band Director. At high school, I was the Visual Marching Band Director, Assistant Pep Band Director, Assistant Jazz Band Director, Symphonic Band conductor, and Brass Choir Director.
Fall 2021, I accepted the Director of Bands position at Washington High School, Washington MO. I was conductor of the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band. I was Director of the Marching Band, Brass Choir Director, and Brass Specialist at the high school and middle school.
While in Washington, I was recognized as Educator of the Year in 2009 at Washington Middle School and Educator of the Year in 2019 at Washington High School. I also received the Inspiring Excellence Award in 2017.
I served as Vice President of the Middle School of ECMEA from 2016-2018. I am currently adjudicating, a clinician, and presenting at state conventions.
My professional affiliations include MBA, MMEA, NAfME, and Phi Beta Mu.
