Mrs. Katelyn Long, Head Coach
Katelyn Long has been part of the CHS swim coaching staff since 2006. After swimming in St. Louis growing up, she competed at the University of Iowa 2001-2005 where she also completed her math degree with a secondary teaching certificate. Coach Long is a member of the CHS Math Department and a dedicated educator. She is passionate about working with high school students in the classroom and on the pool deck.
Coach Long believes that her primary responsibility as a coach is to challenge and simultaneously support all athletes. She strives to establish a positive environment where students are able to set goals, take risks, and push themselves to become better athletes and teammates. Participating in sports teaches athletes how to handle their emotions with grace, persevere through difficulties, and encourage others. She believes these lessons are lifelong, help build confidence, and shape dynamic individuals.

Ms. Katie Guyre, Assistant Coach
Katie Guyre joined the CHS Girls Swimming and Diving coaching staff in 2024. A lifelong swimmer, Katie grew up competing in the St. Louis area before continuing her athletic career as a Division I swimmer at Illinois State University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from ISU and later completed a Master of Arts in Reading from Webster University. Since 2014, Katie has served the Clayton community as a Reading Specialist at Glenridge Elementary.
Katie has coached high school and collegiate swimmers in the St. Louis area since 2009. Her coaching philosophy centers on providing clear, constructive feedback that reinforces the fundamental skills of the sport and helps athletes build strong, sustainable habits. She is committed to fostering a growth mindset, guiding athletes as they set personal goals, develop confidence, and take ownership of their progress.
Katie believes that swimming develops far more than physical ability, it cultivates resilience, self-reflection, and a strong sense of personal capability. She aims to create a positive, athlete-focused environment where every swimmer feels supported, challenged, and empowered to reach their potential both in and out of the pool.
