This course is designed to teach students the basics of digital photography and how to create and manipulate photographic images with Adobe Photoshop. Adobe Photoshop is the overwhelming program of choice for professional photographers and graphic artists. This powerful program is used to create graphic illustrations, design web pages, manipulate images, restore photographs, and a whole host of 3D modeling applications such as generating textures and producing lighting maps. If a job entails using graphics in any way, you can be certain Photoshop will be involved!

Students are also introduced to the basics of photography and the use of a DSLR camera. Topics covered include the history of photography, the physics of light and how a camera records an image, as well as the art of composing an eye-catching photograph.

No prior photographic or Photoshop experience is necessary. Students will be kindly led through a series of tutorials, exercises, and projects designed to provide skills and confidence at a fun, steady pace. Equal emphasis will be placed on mastering the technical as well as artistic aspects of the computer and camera.
