I am excited about my eighth year at Wydown and look forward to working with all of our 8-East students in Science! This will be a new adventure for me, and will be the first time I am teaching 8th Grade for the entire year. (I taught it last year for half of the year.)
At Wydown, besides delving into all things Science, I am the Camp Director for 6th Grade Camp, one of the WEB Coordinators (helping train and support 8th grade leaders to guide incoming 6th graders in their transition), and a sponsor of the Wydown student newsmagazine, The Y!
I have been teaching for 22 years now--seven years at Wydown, four years at Parkway West Middle and, prior to that, 11 years teaching many different grade levels at Henry Elementary in Parkway. I love to learn and am excited to learn alongside the students at Wydown.
I have an amazing wife, Laura (she supports the Science, World Language and CTE programs at CHS), and we have two daughters—one in 12th grade (at CHS) and one heading into Junior Year at Webster University—and I love to hang out with them when I am not at school, or working with students. My wife and I met twenty-eight years ago at the Cincinnati Zoo and have made it our mission to “collect” zoos ever since. We usually collect a few new zoos every year, and have now visited almost 170 zoos and aquariums in North America.
So, I love to talk about animals, zoos, nature, Science, books, reading, writing, being outdoors, sports, running, creating art, and so much more. I love hearing the stories of students because I learn so much from them every day!
