Hi! My name is Heather Carson, and I am so excited to be teaching fourth grade at Glenridge this year! I began my teaching career in 1999 and have been at it ever since, teaching everything from middle school Spanish to third, fourth, and fifth grades.  Here is a little bit about my journey.

I grew up in Marthasville, MO on a dairy farm with my parents, brother, and four sisters.  I always knew I wanted to be a teacher and used to practice on my four sisters ALL of the time.  After graduating from Washington High School, I attended Truman State University in Kirksville, MO.  While there, I earned my Bachelor's degree in English and then went on to get my Master's degree in Elementary Education with an additional certification in Spanish K-12.  While I was a student at Truman, I had the amazing opportunity to travel and study in Costa Rica.  This sparked my interest in travel and helped me to learn how to communicate better in Spanish.

After graduating from Truman, I moved to St. Louis and began my teaching career in the Parkway School District.  I spent five years teaching seventh and eighth grade Spanish and sixth grade Cultural Connections at Parkway Southwest Middle School.  I then decided to pursue my dreams of teaching elementary and took a position teaching fourth grade at Sorrento Springs.  While at Sorrento Springs, I taught fourth grade for four years and then had the opportunity to loop to fifth grade.  I then had the opportunity to join the Clayton family at Glenridge in 2009.  During my years here, I have enjoyed teaching third, fourth, and fifth graders.

When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my husband, Matt and my son, Sam who was born in April 2015. He is a student at Glenridge, too! As a family, we love books, laughing, superheroes, being outside, and just spending time together.

Teaching is truly my passion and my joy.  I feel so lucky to spend my days learning and growing with children.  I am looking forward to an amazing school year.  Please stop by and say hello!
