What is Tri-M?
Once named the "Modern Music Masters," Tri-M is the international honor society for sophomore, junior, and senior high school music students. It is a program of the Music Educators National Conference — an association of over 65,000 music education professionals nationwide who realize the importance of motivating students and recognizing music achievements.
How are members chosen?Tri-M membership is based on:
♫ scholarship and achievement in music and other academic subjects.
♫ excellent character and attitude toward teachers and fellow students.
♫ cooperation and service in class, school, and community.
♫ a willingness to go above and beyond the minimum requirements.
♫ a willingness to accept responsibility.
Students must:- Must be enrolled in a school-sponsored music ensemble and/or class for at least one semester.
- Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior.
- Must have an “A” average in music course work and a “B” average in overall GPA.
Membership opens every fall, and students can pick up their application packets from the Music office. Students must fill out an application, get two teacher/administrator recommendations, one music teacher recommendation, as well as completing an audition and being evaluated by current Tri-M members.I have questions! Please see the sponsor of Tri-M, Mr. Henderson, in the Orchestra Room if you have any questions about how to join Tri-M!
